My alarm clock sounded its first
alarm at 5 a.m. this morning. I
automatically slapped the off button, knowing that the second alarm would
follow 30 minutes later. At 5:30 I was
awake and wishing it wasn’t Monday morning.
I thought about the challenges of another week and I didn’t want the day
to begin.
As I often do, I remained in bed,
half asleep, and began praying. I
started on my list of what I wanted God to do for me, and a Bible verse that I
memorized as a child suddenly came to mind…
“This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in
it.”- Ps. 118:24
What an encouraging word to come
from God! I stopped my list of requests
and began to thank God for making today.
Every day that we have life is a gift from God. We have the opportunity to begin each day
rejoicing in what God has in store for us that day. If we believe that God has a plan and a
purpose for us, how can we not look forward to the beginning of each day?
I headed for the gym with a
changed outlook toward the day. Instead
of dreading the beginning of a new week, I’ve been reminded that today was a
gift from God. He made Monday for me to
rejoice and be glad in it!
